Another day, another issue, another cheque - problem solved: they should be removing the asbestos today!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Took a call from the builder this morning. His team had found asbestos on the site.
I believe it is contained in the eaves of the attic and stacked up from a previous rip out but will need specialist attention! Oh Joy! No idea how much cost or what the time implications are, but the builder seemed optimistic it wasn't going to be a significant problem.
Fingers crossed.
This is a blog about our journey to convert an 1860s 5 storey Victorian building in Lewisham, from a run down office block to our taylor made home (after over 40 years of office neglect). Having first viewed the property in June 2010, seen planning permission for a 'Change of Use' come through in October 2010; we finally picked up the keys in February 2011. Now the fun starts!

The roof is finished
I went out on the roof this week to tread the scaffolding boards and admire the great leadwork and finishing...
Now we need additional insulation inside.

Kitchen plans
Trees
For the last two weeks our builder has been piling rubbish up inside the house as he's been unable to get a skip in the front garden as a tress has been hogging all the space. After, a fair amount of going aorund in circles on this point, it turns out the tree is in fact a bush and therefore not subject to planning requirements, so it can finally come down .......hurray!! Now all we need to do is get rid of the monstrosity in the back.................... http://acolnet.lewisham.gov.uk/LEWIS-XSLPagesDC/acolnetcgi.exe?ACTION=UNWRAP&RIPNAME=Root.PgeResultDetail&TheSystemkey=62828

No skip... house is filling up with rubbish!!!
While we await the council to decide if the bush at the front of the house has some sort of significance to the local area, we cannot quite squeeze a skip into the front garden... so the builders are having to fil up the rooms with bits of the roof, carpets etc etc
Here's one of the guest bedrooms!
